The Memorial Day Weekend cruise to Montague Harbor on Galiano Island, B.C. was such a blast! Great weather, mild winds, and a perfect combination of relaxation and recreation left our BYC cruisers in great spirits!
Friday we all enjoyed a fun and entertaining ride on the Pub Bus to The Hummingbird Cafe for a casual dinner followed by a pool tournament.
Saturday half of the group walked the scenic Gray’s Peninsula loop and enjoyed the peaceful scenery of Montague Harbor and the unique beaches including the white shell beaches. The other half of the group ventured out for a six mile hike to the summit of Mt Galiano, the highest point on the island with breath taking views of some of the Gulf Islands and all the way south to the San Juan Islands. Saturday evening we gathered aboard Jumanji for a feast of BBQ ribs and yummy sides. We ended the evening with a game on the fly bridge.
Sunday afternoon half of our group enjoyed the thrill and adventure of touring the island’s beaches and view points and other points of interest by SCOOTERS!! It was the 1st time riding scooters for most of us and we absolutely enjoyed the four hour sight seeing ride! The other half of our group shuttled into Sturdies Bay to visit the small “town” for some lunch, shopping and sight seeing. Sunday evening we found a great picnic area to hold our potluck dinner on the bluff over looking the harbor. We ended the evening with a nice campfire and story telling of Alex Marr’s sailing adventures.
Monday we gathered for breakfast burritos on Jumanji before departing.
What a fantastic weekend for each of us and great memories for us to cherish as well!
