Those BYC cruisers who were fortunate enough to make it to the Deer Harbor Cruise/Rendezvous, were blessed with incredible weather with calm seas and a chance to get to know some new friends!

Our dockside Happy Hour Friday was so relaxing as we listened to Jimmy Buffet, soaked up some much appreciated sunshine and nibbled on our favorite appetizers! Saturday evening we enjoyed a delicious BBQ Chicken dinner with the best salad bar & side dishes ever that were prepared by our wonderful hosts Susan Henderson and Pete Johnson. The meal was rounded out with some yummy treats, especially the delicious Hawaiian coleslaw made by Donna Olson and the homemade brownies and pico de gallo made by the Haas family!

With the use of the complimentary Deer Harbor marina 15 passenger van, we loaded up every seat and headed to East Sound for a day of shopping and browsing at the local shops and Farmer’s Market.

Some of the other fun activities we enjoyed on this cruise were kayaking trips around the harbor, going for walks and bike rides on the beautiful country scenic roads and dipping in the very warm pool too! Those of us who wanted to get some vigorous exercise ventured up to hike the Turtleback Mountain trail to some of the most scenic views of the neighboring islands. We were once again treated to an incredible brunch prepared by Susan and Pete with hot blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit platter, baked ham and scrambled eggs…YUM!!!

The smaller group of folks who attended had the opportunity to bond and get to know each other better. We shared some of the great benefits of being BYC members and how especially fortunate we are to cruise together with friends to beautiful places in our San Juan Islands!
