Welcome to Bellingham Yacht Club Cruising!

2019 promises to be another active cruising season with several fun cruises planned throughout the San Juan Islands & beyond.  In addition to our traditional favorites, we have joint cruises with other clubs and a couple of longer cruises. There are lots of opportunities for everyone to get involved in cruising with the club and it is a great way to make new friends! Remember to sign up as early as possible!

You can register for a cruise and view who is attending from the links in the calendar below or you can click the shortcut here to go directly to the “2019 Cruise Registration Forms” which is a table containing links to each of this year’s cruise events.

Theme

The Salish Sea is our playground. Extending from Olympia to Johnstone Strait, including the Strait of Juan de Fuca, our San Juan and Gulf Islands are its heart. The Bellingham Yacht Club 16th Annual Autumn Equinox Cruise September 20-22, 2019.

Please join us for our annual Autumn Equinox cruise, a great end to our Bellingham Yacht Club cruising season. This year we are going to sail to a new land (at least a new Marina for us), we are going to Semiahmoo Marina in Blaine.

The weather is typically warm, the winds light, and the water calm. Boaters of all ages – experienced and learning, members new and old, as well as seafarers on their first cruise, all join together to mark the seasons transition with the Autumn Equinox.

Join your fellow boaters September 20-22 in Blaine at the Semiahmoo Marina for a relaxing weekend, including a night around the campfire on the 21st where we will not only tell stories but listen to local music through the evening. As always, food will be plentiful, stories told, and memories of cruises past shared.

Semiahmoo offers us the opportunity to not only have a place to have our “Cruinniu na mBad” (Celtic gathering of the boats), but also as crabbing season is still be open in Area 7 North, we will have a prize for the largest crab caught, the most crab caught, and the least crab caught! Semiahmoo and Boundary Bay are on the edge of the Strait of Georgia and has some of the best crabbing in Washington. You might want to drop your pots on the way into the harbor on Friday, and pick them up on Saturday (that’s what we do).

The Bellingham Yacht Club is a special place because of the members. We cruise together, race together, and learn together. While every event is special because of our common love of the sea, this year’s Autumn Equinox cruise will again be a special event as together we feel that first breath of fall in the air, see that Fall grey of the Northwest sky, and experience the shortening of the days. “There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea. But the best ships are friendships, and may they always be.”
